So we went to a shichi-go-san ceremony here in Japan. Apparently this involves getting dressed in a kimono, going down to the local shrine, and then the priest performs a ceremony involving a fair amount of kneeling, clapping of hands, and shaking sticks with paper trails at people (especially the 3 year old). It dragged on a bit and Erika got bored, but was able to stay relatively quiet through the whole thing. She was especially good at bowing her head when everyone else was (even without being told!).
