So, Erika is going to a school in Brooklyn now, and therefore takes the subway. Specifically, she takes the subway to Jay Street Station. And she asked me why they spell Jay "J-A-Y" instead of just "J". And I said there was probably a Mr. Jay in the past who they named the street after. Thankfully she didn't ask why Mr. Jay spelled his name "J-A-Y" and not just "J", and the matter appeared to be settled.
Or so I thought, until the other day, she noted that "you" is spelled "Y-O-U" not "U", and obvs that was because of Mr. You back in the day.
